Ahmedabad: A large, ageing neem tree in the Roopalee parking lot in Ahmedabad came crashing down on cars on Wednesday. A hawker had a narrow escape while seven vehicles, including luxury cars, were damaged.Teams from the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services worked for several hours to saw the tree’s thick trunk and branches in order to remove them.Experts feel that while municipal agencies typically prune before monsoon to remove weak branches, this cannot detect hidden trunk decay or root damage below ground.
