Prayagraj: In a tragic incident, four persons, including two brothers, were killed after they were mowed down by a speeding unidentified vehicle while replacing the punctured tyre of a pickup truck near Kangan hotel, Trilokpur on Prayagraj-Kanpur highway under the limits of Saini police station of Kaushambi district late on Tuesday night.The victims were identified as Sabir (30) and his brother Akbar (32), residents of Saray Sirathu, Anwar (40) of Muratganj and Ehsaan (42) of Rasoolpur.Deputy SP (Sirathu) Satyendra Tiwari said that the incident took place when pickup driver Anwar (40) and his associate Ehsan (42) were transporting folding cots to Kanpur and the one of the tyre of their vehicle got punctured.They sought the help of mechanics Sabir (30) and Akbar (32), who were brothers, to replace the damaged tyre on the roadside.While the four men were changing the tyre, an unidentified speeding vehicle rammed into them, leaving all of them critically injured.Upon being alerted, they were first taken to Sirathu Community health centre where doctors referred them to Manjhanpur district hospital for treatment. All the four critically injured were rushed to the district hospital, Manjhanpur, where doctors declared them dead. The bodies have been sent for postmortem examination.Saini police have registered a case against the unidentified driver based on a complaint filed by the victims’ family members. Efforts are underway to trace the errant vehicle and its driver. Police have been scanning CCTV footage to ascertain the registration of vehicle and its driver.
