Itanagar: An undertrial prisoner, who was also convicted in a Pocso case, escaped from the judicial jail in Arunachal Pradesh’s West Siang district, prompting police to launch a massive manhunt, officials said on Tuesday.The prisoner, identified as 29-year-old Dorik Doji, escaped from judicial custody at around 8:30 pm on Monday, sub -Inspector Lakhi Mena said.Doji, a resident of Doji Jeko village, was recently convicted and sentenced to five years of imprisonment in a case registered at the women police station, Aalo, under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and Section 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.Apart from his conviction, Doji is also facing trials in two separate cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act and relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at the Aalo Police Station, Mena added.Police issued a lookout notice and alerted all police stations, outposts, check gates and naka parties across the region to maintain strict vigil to apprehend him.Police described Doji as medium build, with a wheatish complexion, short black hair, a thin moustache and a small goatee beard. He was last seen wearing a white half-sleeve collared T-shirt.Authorities urged the public to share any information on his whereabouts with the Aalo police station or the nearest police authorities and warned against assisting or harbouring him.
