Mysuru: Stressing the importance of discipline and regular practice, regional commissioner Nitish Patil, who is also the administrator of the Mysuru City Corporation and chairman of the City Library Authority, said on Tuesday that mock examinations are indispensable for candidates preparing for competitive examinations, particularly police recruitment tests. He was speaking after inaugurating a mock examination for the Karnataka State Police Department’s Civil Police Constable recruitment, jointly organised by the City Central Library at People’s Park and the Jnanagangothri Competitive Examination Centre, Vijayanagar. Patil said that regardless of the number of hours spent studying at home, candidates must take mock tests to become familiar with the examination environment, learn to manage pressure, and improve their time-management skills. He pointed out that many aspirants lose valuable marks due to simple mistakes when filling out OMR sheets, errors that can only be eliminated through repeated practice. Sharing his own experience, Patil said he had appeared for several competitive examinations, including the IAS, KPSC, banking and RBI exams. He urged aspirants never to underestimate any examination and to approach every test with seriousness and confidence.
