Noida: A 30-year-old driver was left in critical condition after he was allegedly shot at on Sunday by his neighbour over a dispute that dates back nearly 10 months.Govind, a resident of Thora village in Jewar, stepped out of his house around 9pm when his neighbour Saurabh (28) allegedly opened fire at him without any immediate provocation before fleeing the scene.Hearing the gunshot, Govind’s family members rushed outside and found him injured with a bullet wound between his shoulder and chest. He was first taken to a nearby private hospital and later referred to another medical facility for advanced treatment. Doctors said his condition remains critical.Jewar police registered an FIR under the BNS section for attempt to murder and Saurabh was arrested soon after the incident. “The country-made pistol used in the offence has also been recovered,” an officer said.Investigation revealed that the two men had been involved in a dispute around 10 months ago when Saurabh’s house was under construction.Govind had allegedly taken two bricks that were lying outside Saurabh’s house and placed them beneath the wheels of his vehicle to level the ground. The bricks broke, triggering an argument between the neighbours.The verbal altercation soon turned violent, with Govind allegedly assaulting Saurabh. A case of assault was registered against Govind at Jewar police station at the time and a chargesheet was filed, police said.Police said Sunday’s shooting was likely a fallout of that earlier dispute.Investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and gather additional evidence, police added.A senior officer said the accused was arrested from the Jewar area soon after the incident. “The country-made pistol used in the offence has also been recovered,” he said.Police said further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and gather additional evidence.
