Gurgaon: A shopkeeper in Palwal allegedly died by suicide after a group of men repeatedly blackmailed him and framed him in a molestation case after he asked them to pay back the money they owed him.Police found a two-page suicide note in his possession that allegedly mentioned that he was subjected to harassment, threats, assault and a false criminal case by a group of seven men.In the note, the victim, Rizwan, a resident of Alimev in Palwal, blamed Qayyum, Wakeel, Hakam, Junaid, Sasheed, Sahnaz and Asru from Neemka village in Nuh for driving him to take the extreme step.Based on the note and a complaint from his father, a case was registered against seven residents of Nuh district for abetment to suicide and extortion.According to police, Rizwan ran a welding shop on rented premises in Neemka village, Nuh. The trouble began when the accused, Qayyum, Wakeel, Hakam, Junaid, Sasheed, Sahnaz and Asru, refused to pay full dues for welding work amounting to Rs 32,000, handing him only Rs 13,000.When Rizwan demanded the remaining money, they allegedly subjected him to frequent physical assaults and daily extortion, which forced him to borrow money to keep the business afloat.Things worsened on June 30 when the group allegedly thrashed Rizwan, threatened him and threw his equipment. They allegedly even lured a minor girl to file a fabricated molestation case against him. Broken by the shame and stress, Rizwan ended his life by hanging himself.In the two-page suicide note addressed to the govt, Rizwan said that despite his family members begging the accused for mercy, the bullying did not stop forcing him to take the extreme step.
