Bengaluru: Aster DM Quality Care has commenced operations following the completion of the merger between Aster DM Healthcare and Quality Care India Ltd (QCIL), creating one of India’s largest hospital networks with 39 hospitals, over 10,600 beds and a presence across 28 cities.The merged entity brings together four healthcare brands—Aster DM, CARE Hospitals, Evercare and KIMSHEALTH—and aims to expand access to specialist healthcare beyond India’s metropolitan centres.Under the new structure, Azad Moopen will continue as executive chairman, while Varun Khanna has been appointed managing director and group CEO.The company said the combined platform has a strong footprint across South and Central India and plans to focus on underserved and fast-growing healthcare markets by expanding specialist services.Dr Moopen said, “Together, we are creating an institution that is stronger, more resilient and better positioned to address the evolving healthcare needs of India.”Khanna said the immediate priority would be integrating the two organisations while ensuring continuity of patient care. “Patients and their families will be at the centre of every decision, with digitally enabled solutions and a strong bias for high-quality clinical outcomes. Our immediate focus is disciplined and seamless integration with continuity of patient care,” he said.The company expects the merger to generate synergies across clinical collaboration, procurement, technology adoption, digital health and operational efficiency. Doctors across the network will increasingly work through shared treatment protocols, multidisciplinary case discussions and centres of excellence to provide consistent standards of care.Aster DM Quality Care said its expanded network will help improve access to advanced healthcare in tier-2 and tier-3 cities such as Nagpur, Aurangabad, Vijayawada, Guntur, Bhubaneswar, Raipur, Nagercoil, Kolhapur, Kannur, Kasaragod and Kottakkal, reducing the need for patients to travel to metro cities for complex treatments.
