Bengaluru: The South Western Railway (SWR) has proposed changing the Bengaluru terminals of Kalaburagi and Belagavi Vande Bharat trains to Yeshwantpur from Aug due to logistical reasons.SMVT Bengaluru-Kalaburagi Vande Bharat, which would depart SMVT at 2:40pm six days a week is proposed to start from Yeshwantpur at the same time. Similarly, KSR Bengaluru-Belagavi Vande Bharat, once approved, will originate from Yeshwantpur 12 minutes later than the existing departure time of 2:20pm.In terms of the return services, the Kalaburagi Vande Bharat will reach Yeshwantpur at 2:10pm, 20 minutes later than its current arrival time of 1:50 pm. The Belagavi Vande Bharat will reach 20 minutes later at 2:10 pm than the existing 1:50 pm.According to sources, the change has been proposed due to the integration of the rakes used to run both the services. While separate rakes are used to run these trains, sharing could come into effect once the new schedule is implemented. As per the proposal, once approved by the Railway Board, the changes could be implemented during the first week of Aug.However, the shift of the services to Yeshwantpur will lead to changes in timings of the trains already operating from the station. An important train that might be rescheduled is the Kacheguda-Yeshwantpur Vande Bharat which connects Bengaluru and Hyderabad.Interestingly, both Belagavi and Kalaburagi Vande Bharat trains are among the lowest occupied within Karnataka. According to SWR data, the service starting from Belagavi has the lowest booking percentage of all Vande Bharat’s running within SWR at just 64.3%, generating Rs 8.9 crore in revenue between August 2025 and April 2026.
