GURGAON: Parties involved in pending cheque bounce cases will have an opportunity to resolve their disputes through a Special Lok Adalat to be held across Haryana on July 18. The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) said the special sitting, being organised on the directions of the Haryana State Legal Services Authority, will take up cases registered under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act through mutual settlement. Nisha, Secretary of the District Legal Services Authority and Chief Judicial Magistrate, said litigants whose cheque dishonour cases are pending in courts can apply to have their matters listed before the Special Lok Adalat by appearing before their respective courts on or before July 17. “The Lok Adalat will also hear pending appeals related to cheque bounce cases, allowing parties to settle disputes through negotiation instead of prolonged litigation,” she said. According to the DLSA, settlements reached in the Lok Adalat help parties resolve disputes quickly and at a lower cost while reducing the burden of court proceedings. Awards passed by the Lok Adalat are final and binding on all parties. The authority has advised interested litigants to contact the District Legal Services Authority, Gurgaon, or call its helpline at 0124-2221501 for further information.
