Kolkata: The Regional Passport Office (RPO), Kolkata, will hold three special passport adalats this month — July 9, 16 and 21 — to clear backlog. The adalats will be held on July 9, 16 and 21, with 800 applicants per day in five slots between 9.30 am and 5.30 pm. “The initiative is aimed at expediting the examination and processing of pending passport applications,” said regional passport officer, Ashish Middha. The RPO has suspended phone enquiry services and walk-in appointments on all three days.
