Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday conducted raids at 16 locations linked to deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Sankireddy Bheem Reddy and unearthed disproportionate assets (DA) worth over Rs 150 crore. According to the bureau, Bheem Reddy has not been arrested.Bheem Reddy, currently serving as DSP of police computer services (PCS), Telangana, had previously served as sub-inspector, inspector and assistant commissioner of police (ACP) at several police stations and divisions in Hyderabad. He was inspector of Raidurgam, Narayanguda and Miyapur police stations, ACP of Vanasthalipuram, and DSP of Patancheru. Bheem Reddy, son of a farmer from Aloor village in Jadcherla mandal of Mahbubnagar district, joined the department as a constable in 1989. Later, he completed an open university degree and became an SI in 1995. He became an inspector in 2010 and DSP in 2017.Following a preliminary inquiry into the illegal assets acquired by Bheem Reddy, the ACB registered a case of disproportionate assets (DA) against him under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act. Simultaneous searches were conducted at his villa in Vessella Meadows at Ibrahimbagh, and 15 other premises belonging to his relatives, friends, alleged benamis and other associates across the city.During the searches, the ACB unearthed several immovable and movable assets, including a villa in Vessella Meadows at Ibrahimbagh, a G+2 penthouse at Telecom Nagar in Gachibowli; a flat in Sai Prabha Residency at Telecom Nagar, a flat at Kranti Ceon Apartments in Gachibowli, a share in a G+5 commercial complex built on a 500-square-yard plot on Lanco Hills Road in Manikonda and a 3,000-square-foot commercial space near the Manikonda Marrichettu Junction.The bureau also identified two flats at Abhinanda Residency in Tellapur; a 500-square-yard plot at Pragathi Resorts, 3.5 acres of agricultural land at Zaheerabad, six acres and 38 acres of agricultural land in Karnataka, one acre of land at Devanahalli near Bengaluru, a 200-square-yard plot near Kamineni Hospital in Nagole, a 400-square-yard plot near GPR Housing Society in Patancheru, another 200-square-yard plot in Patancheru, a 1,000-square-yard plot in Mominpet in Vikarabad; two acres of agricultural land in Mominpet; an investment of Rs 75 lakh in Sri Raghavendra Rock Sand Minerals and 4.2 acres of agricultural land at Muchintala in the CC Kunta area of Mahbubnagar district.The searches also led to the seizure of Rs 3.6 lakh in cash from Bheem Reddy’s residence, Rs 40 lakh in cash from the residence of an alleged benami, 2 kg of gold ornaments, 20 kg of silver articles and bank deposits amounting to Rs 19.91 lakh.According to ACB officials, the market value of the unearthed assets exceeds Rs 150 crore.“Bheem Reddy acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income by indulging in corrupt practices and dubious means during his service,” an ACB official said.Furthermore, the ACB also seized 23 bottles of foreign liquor during the searches and informed the Excise Department for appropriate legal action.Meanwhile, during the search at his villa, Bheem Reddy’s BP shot up to 170/120, and ACB officials called a doctor who recommended immediate medical assistance. Later, Bheem Reddy was released to his family, under ACB’s supervision, to take care of his medical needs.
