Berhampur: Police on Thursday arrested a 48-year old man, his wife and son for allegedly hacking to death of a 55-year old widow, one of his relatives, near Pilipada under Ganjam district’s Gangapur police station limits on Wednesday afternoon.The deceased was identified as Bhasi Pradhan (55) of Palakasandha village. The accused were identified as Murali Pradhan (48), his wife Bini (45) and son Prince (20) of the same village, said police. Preliminary inquiry found the incident to be related to family feud, police said.Bhanjanagar sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Deepak Kumar Mishra said the deceased’s family members had allegedly objected to the visit of Murali’s daughter and her husband to his house, as she had married to a member of other caste. There was a quarrel between the two families over the issue three days ago.In consequent upon this while the deceased had been to the nearby field for goat grazing along with her son Hina Pradhan( 22), the accused persons together attacked the deceased and her son with an axe, knife and bamboo. While the woman was died, her son sustained critically injured. He was undergoing treatment at MKCG Medical College and Hospital here, said police. The weapons used to kill the woman seized, they added.
