Mandya: Deputy commissioner Kumara on Thursday directed officials of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to expedite all pending national highway works in Mandya district and ensure their completion without further delay.The directions came during a review meeting held in accordance with the chief minister’s instructions to assess the status of national highway projects, land acquisition and forest clearances related to road infrastructure works being executed by the NHAI and National Highway Divisions across the state.Reviewing the progress of projects in the district, the DC noted that several highway works remained incomplete and stressed the need to accelerate execution to avoid inconvenience to commuters. He instructed NHAI officials to resolve bottlenecks and complete the remaining works at the earliest.The meeting also reviewed the proposed wildlife overpass on the national highway passing through Srirangapatna taluk. The project aims to facilitate the safe movement of wild animals while enhancing road safety.Kumara directed officials of the forest department and other concerned agencies to expedite the pending forest clearance process so that construction can begin without delay. He instructed the departments to complete all statutory formalities, including the prompt payment of mandatory fees and obtaining the required certificate under the Forest Rights Act (FRA).Emphasising the importance of inter-departmental coordination, the DC urged all stakeholders to work closely together to ensure the project progresses according to schedule.
