Nagpur: Delay on part of Nagpur University (NU) in conducting the exams as well as declaring results has left hundreds of law aspirants who qualified through the Common Admission Process (CAP) of Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test (MH-CET) in the lurch. Registrations for the three-year LLB course closed on Tuesday while NU students are still awaiting their results.Final year students of BA, BCom, and BSc courses seek admission to the three-year LLB programme through the CAP process. NU completed the final-year BCom examinations around a month ago, while the BA and BSc examinations concluded on June 15 and June 23, respectively. The summer examinations for several other courses are still underway.According to NU examination officials, around 9,000 students are enrolled in the final year of BSc, 8,000 in BA and 3,500 in BCom. “The results are getting delayed because we do not have complete old data. We asked colleges to send previous semester records, but many are busy with their own work,” an official said.Officials said the NU administration is likely to write to the State CET Cell seeking an extension for submitting original documents, including final year marksheets. SM Rajan, director of Central India College of Law and Central Province College of Law, Nagpur, said the June 30 deadline for LLB (three-year) CAP registrations had severely affected law aspirants.“The delay in results has left NU final year students at risk of losing an entire academic year. We request that the State CET Cell to extend the CAP deadline. NU must declare the results immediately in order to protect students’ careers,” he said.Rajiv Khobragade, member of NGO, The Platform, said, “Students must not be deprived of higher education due to NU’s poor administration and a glaring lack of planning. Aspirants who cleared the MH CET Law examination are being held hostage by university delays.”
