Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) fetched a record-high bid of Rs 1.09 lakh per sq yard at its Mokila layout auction, held over Monday and Tuesday. The highest bid was more than double the govt-fixed upset price of Rs 50,000 per sq yard, helping the authority garner Rs 231 crore from the sale of 100 residential plots. The HMDA conducted the e-auction in two phases, auctioning 50 plots on Monday and the remaining 50 on Tuesday. According to officials, while the highest bid touched Rs 1.09 lakh per sq yard, the average bid stood at Rs 75,640 per sq yard, indicating strong demand across the layout. The auction drew enthusiastic participation from buyers across Hyderabad and neighbouring regions, reflecting sustained market confidence in HMDA-developed layouts and the growing demand for well-planned residential communities. Officials attributed the robust response largely to Mokila’s strategic location in the city’s fast-growing western corridor. The strong bidding trend was mirrored in the eastern part of the city as well. At HMDA’s Medipally layout auction, the highest bid reached Rs 80,000 per sq yard against an upset price of Rs 45,000 per sq yard.Officials said the robust turnout and competitive bidding reinforce HMDA’s strategy of monetising prime land parcels through transparent auctions.
