Kanpur: A 27-year-old man, out on bail in a kidnapping case, allegedly went live on Instagram with an associate to threaten the victim and her family with dire consequences. The purported video went viral on social media, prompting the victim to file a fresh complaint with the Barra police.DCP (South) Deependra Nath Chaudhary said police are verifying the video and collecting evidence. He said the accused would be arrested if the allegations are found to be true.The accused, identified as Monu Sachan, was arrested in Dec 2025 for abduction and was later released on bail.The victim’s mother, a resident of LIG Vaishnavi Vihar, had lodged a complaint in Dec 2025 naming Monu Sachan, Harshit Sachan, Ritik Prajapati, Shivam Sachan, Krishna Saini, Ayush Tiwari and others as accused.According to the woman, the accused abducted her son, Priyanshu Sachan (26), at gunpoint from Maggi Point on Dec 7 and allegedly demanded a ransom of Rs 40 lakh. They also allegedly collected a part of the ransom before police intervened.Barra police had arrested Monu and sent him to jail, while the remaining accused were absconding. After securing bail a few days ago, Monu allegedly threatened the victim again during the Instagram Live session.
