Surat: Police on Monday seized 40.11kg of ganja, worth Rs. 20. 11 lakh, in raids in the Mahidharpura and Chowk Bazar police station jurisdictions. Mahidhapura police allegedly caught Ali Banmali Nahak (36) with 20.15kg of cannabis, while he was going to deliver the ganja. According to police, Nahak had brought the ganja from Puranchandra Pradhan in Odisha and was to deliver it to Amit Pradhan in Surat. Before he could deliver it, he was caught on Sumul Dairy Road.In second raid, a special operations group (SOG) team raided a house in Meena Nagar Society in the Chowk Bazaar area and seized 20kg of ganja. Police arrested two persons, Kalucharan Mahanti (31) and Jitu Pradhan (21), who were allegedly in possession of it. The two had allegedly got the ganja from one Rakesh Raut of Odisha and were to deliver it to on eKrishna Parida in the Amroli area of the city.
