Ranchi: Tribal organisations on Monday resolved to launch a campaign from villages to the state capital to protect and conserve tribal culture. They also decided to organise an ‘Adivasiyat Bachao’ rally in Ranchi later this year against “social, political and cultural attempts to destroy the community’s unique identity”.Representatives of the tribal bodies said that describing tribals as “vanvasis” and denying the community an independent religious code were among the attempts to erase their distinctive characteristics.Organisers said the campaign would seek wider participation from village communities before culminating in the proposed Ranchi mobilisation. The meeting was attended by representatives of Jharkhand Janadhikar Mahasabha, Adivasi Adhikar Manch, Gaon Ganrajya Parishad, Adivasi Sangharsh Morcha, Adivasi Samanvaya Samiti and Sanyukta Gram Sabha, among other groups.
