Mysuru: A private school teacher allegedly killed her husband and initially attempted to pass off his death as a heart attack. Police have launched an investigation to trace another person who reportedly fled the house after the incident, officials said on Monday.Deputy commissioner of Police (law and order) Harsha Priyamvada told TOI that Kuvempu Nagar police were informed about the death of a man at around 6.30am. Within an hour, his wife, Susheela, allegedly confessed to killing her husband, Nithyananda, at their residence in Hudco Layout.Preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had been married for 13 years and had no children. Nithyananda, 50, worked at a car showroom, while Susheela was employed as a private school teacher. According to police, the accused claimed that she was upset because her husband frequently picked quarrels with her after consuming alcohol and had therefore decided to eliminate him.Police are also examining whether another person was involved in the murder. They are verifying reports that an individual fled the house after the incident.Initially, Nithyananda’s death was treated as natural. However, inconsistencies in the circumstances surrounding his death prompted a detailed inquiry. Following Susheela’s confession, the case was reclassified as a homicide investigation. Police said forensic evidence is being collected, and statements are being recorded to establish the motive, timeline and possible involvement of an accomplice. Susheela remains the prime suspect in the case.The murder came to light after the victim’s brother and friends, who rushed to the house upon learning of his sudden death, grew suspicious after noticing visible strangulation marks on his neck.
