Chandigarh: The Democratic Teachers’ Front (DTF), Punjab, has objected to the Punjab govt’s advertisement inviting applications for 1,013 school lecturer posts, alleging a lack of transparency in the implementation of the reservation policy. The recruitment notification, issued on June 25, covers 829 fresh vacancies and 184 backlog posts. In a joint statement, DTF state president Vikramdev Singh, general secretary Mahinder Kaurianwali and finance secretary Ashwani Awasthi alleged that the govt had not made public the reservation roster for scheduled castes (SC) and backward classes (BC), leading to doubts among candidates about the recruitment process. The teachers’ body claimed the number of posts earmarked for SC and BC candidates was unusually low. It pointed out that none of the 71 Punjabi lecturer posts had been reserved for candidates from either category.Warning that the lack of transparency could invite legal challenges and delay recruitment, the DTF urged the govt to immediately release the reservation roster and clarify the allocation of reserved posts to restore candidates’ confidence in the constitutional reservation policy.
