Times News NetworkKanpur: Shashwat Singh and Samridhi Verma both of Dr VSEC H-2 Block Kidwai Nagar won the title of boys and girls under-14 years group in two days prize money chess championship which concluded at Vedic Dharma Sabha here on Sunday.Shashwat and his school mate Vinayak Tripathi both collected 4.5 pts each in their group. Shashwat was declared as champion and Vinayak stood as runner up. Abhijit Guha of Dr VSEC Panki stood at the third place.In the girls’ group Samridhi Verma collected 4 points from six rounds and emerged as champion. Akriti Gupta of Central School Raksha Vihar and Kashvi Gupta stood at second and third places respectively They too had earned 4 points each but on progressive points they were awarded the second and third places respectively.Atharva Sonwani of Dr VSEC H-2 Block Kidwai Nagar won the under-19 boys’ group title. He collected a maximum 6 points. Krishna P Thakur (5 pts-Scholar Mission) and Vedant Shukla (Allen House Panki-4 pts) were declared second and third respectively.Parisha Awasthi of DPS Kalyanpur won the U-19 girls’ title with 3.5 pts. Swastika Kumar (Mariampur) and Adya Pandey (The Chintels) stood at second and third place respectively. Both earned 3 pts each.After the final round, chief guest Bal Govind Awasthi presented cash prizes and certificates and medals to the winners.
