Jaipur: A man who allegedly murdered his mother after she refused to give him money to buy drugs a day earlier was arrested by the city police Sunday.The accused, Anil Bairwa, 27, allegedly repeatedly quarrelled with his family over money to fund his drug addiction, police said.The murder came to light after Panni Devi was found dead at her rented house in Bundu Vihar Colony near Bandhya Mod in the Khoh Nagoriyan area on June 27. An FIR was registered on the complaint of her son, Tejram Bairwa.Investigators examined the crime scene, questioned neighbours and family members, and analysed technical evidence before zeroing in on Anil. He was arrested within 12 hours of the murder.Police said Anil, a native of Jaitpur village in Sawai Madhopur district, was living with his family in a rented house in Bundu Vihar Colony and was addicted to drugs. He allegedly frequently demanded money from family members to buy narcotics.According to investigators, on the morning of June 27, after his two elder brothers and sister-in-law left for work, Anil allegedly asked his mother for money. When she refused, he allegedly slammed her head against a wall before attacking her with a knife, inflicting fatal injuries.After the murder, the accused allegedly switched off his mobile phone and fled to evade arrest. Police tracked him down and took him into custody.Further investigation is underway.
