The President of the United States took to his TruthSocial network to thank India for naming a street in Hyderabad after him. “The new Donald Trump Avenue in Hyderabad, India — The first U.S. President to ever be honored in this way. Thank you,” posted the U.S. President sharing an image of the unveiling ceremony.
Mr. Trump’s statement comes two days after the U.S. Envoy to India, Serio Gor, and Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikaramarka unveiled the plaque in the Nanakramguda area of Hyderabad naming the street after the U.S. President.
The Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy first rolled out the plan to name roads after notable personalities and corporate figures in 2025.
“We will name important roads in Hyderabad after corporates. In India, most roads are named after political leaders. Let us change that in Hyderabad to have Google or Meta or TCS or Infosys street,” Mr. Reddy had said, addressing the U.S.-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) in November 2025. The plan to name Donald Trump Avenue was spelt out ahead of the two-day ‘Telangana Rising Global Summit’ held in a newly carved out plan of Future City in December 2025.
Located in the western part of Hyderabad, the street houses the U.S. Consulate offices and is close to several U.S. IT and technology firms.
