Chennai: Three people, including a 17-year-old boy, were arrested by the Singaperumal Koil police for assaulting a 20-year-old man and stealing his motorcycle on the Chennai-Trichy highway near Chengalpet. Police are searching for their accomplice who sold the stolen motorcycle.The victim, Saravanan, 20, of Padalam near Madhurantakam, was working at a textile shop. On the night of the incident, he was returning home on his motorcycle when three men stopped his bike near Singaperumal Koil on GST Road, assaulted him and rode away the bike.Acting on Saravanan’s complaint, the Singaperumal Koil police reviewed CCTV footage and arrested Rohit, 19, and Rajini, 19, both from Singaperumal Koil, along with the 17-year-old. The juvenile was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to an observation home, while the two adults were remanded in judicial custody by the Chengalpet Judicial Magistrate Court.Police recovered the stolen motorcycles from two of the accused and are continuing efforts to trace the absconding suspect.
