Mysuru: Rajeev Hanu, player of Karnataka Bulldozers in the Celebrity Cricket League, inaugurated Apollo Hospitals’ Edin Cricket League 2026 Championship Round and Women’s League at St. Philomena’s Cricket Ground, Mysuru, on Saturday.Speakers said the tournament goes beyond competition, promoting charity, fitness and a positive corporate sports culture. Addressing the gathering, Rajeev said the league’s significance lies in its purpose. He praised the organisers — Mysore CHRO Forum, in association with the Edin Foundation — for sustaining the initiative launched in 2019, even through Covid-19 period. He expressed hope that the league would expand beyond Mysuru and inspire wider participation. Calling cinema and sports powerful platforms, he said cricket builds health, discipline, teamwork and unity, and recalled representing India in a corporate tournament in London.On participation of women, Rajeev said there should be no distinction between men’s and women’s cricket, stressing equal opportunity. He added that such events relieve stress while improving physical and mental well-being.NG Bharatheesha Reddy, senior vice president, Apollo Hospitals, said doctors, nurses and paramedical staff participate enthusiastically despite demanding schedules, and that the women’s league helps working women rejuvenate.
