Chandigarh: Senior Punjab Congress leader and Bholath MLA Sukhpal Singh Khaira on Friday demanded that the “mask video” released by chief minister Bhagwant Mann be sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) in Chandigarh for an independent forensic examination.CM Mann on Friday released footage to prove that an actor with a mask was in a controversial sacrilege video and not him. “There is one simple way to end all doubt: send the video to CFSL, Chandigarh, and let science speak,” Khaira said, adding that he was seeking an evaluation by what he described as “a credible central laboratory.” At a press conference on Friday, Mann had claimed that Canada-based Jagman Samra procured a custom-made mask, placed it on an actor, and filmed the footage in Abbotsford, Canada, around 2018–19 to falsely portray him in an intoxicated state. To support his claim, the CM showed a clip in which Samra could purportedly be seen holding a mask of Mann’s face. Khaira said if the CM and the state govt have nothing to conceal, they should agree to a CFSL examination, adding that any reluctance to do so would only raise further questions.
