Nagpur: A 27-year-old woman, Manju Dudhpachare, was brutally hacked to death in Old Kamptee on Friday. Cops said that the woman secured divorce just a day before being killed and suspect the husband to be the murderer.Manju was attacked on Friday while heading to her father’s fish shop at Kamptee’s Sukhrawari Bazaar. An unidentified assailant followed her on Daroga Masjid Road and stabbed her four times. She was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared her dead. Her body was later shifted to Kamptee Rural Hospital.The victim remained unidentified for several hours. Police later noticed a tattoo reading ‘SMP’ on her left hand. Cops circulated her photos widely, following which family members came forward and identified her.Manju married Sandeep around two years ago and shifted to Ulgaon in the Wardha district. Sandeep turned out to be a liquor addict and allegedly subjected Manju to repeated mental and physical torture. She lodged a complaint with Wardha police and filed for divorce in the Wardha court.Meanwhile, Manju moved back to her parents’ home in Old Kamptee. The court granted the divorce decree on Thursday.Cops said Sandeep previously visited the house, and assaulted family members. They filed a complaint at Old Kamptee police station a few months ago. Cops are probing all angles, including the possibility of other suspects.
