Margao: Fatorda police on Friday arrested Sabir Khan Ustad, 47, who had been missing for nearly six months in connection with the murder of Ali Kalandar Khanzade, vice-president of the Sunni Gulistan Mosque at Gogol. He was traced to the Gogol Housing Board Colony and taken into custody.Khanzade was fatally stabbed in the stomach on Jan 30, shortly after Friday prayers, following a dispute over control of the mosque committee. The daylight killing had prompted the district administration to seal the mosque for several days to prevent any escalation of tensions.Police had earlier arrested the alleged mastermind, Akram Khan, along with seven others — Alam Sayyad, Latif Sayyad, Ubedulla Makandar, Sakruddin Shaikh, Husain Khan, Nizamuddin Sayyad and Sahil Kanvi alias Spaki. Another accused, Altaf Shah Sayyad, was arrested later.Of the accused arrested so far, Akram Khan and Sahil Kanvi continue to remain in judicial custody, while the others have been released on bail.
