T’puram: Kadakal police arrested a 26-year-old man for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl, under the pretext of a false marriage promise.According to police, the accused, Bipin Baby of Anchal, first met the Class IX student at a temple in Feb this year. Later, Baby established contact with the teenager through social media platforms. Exploiting her trust, he made false promises of marriage and sexually assaulted her over a period of five months. The survivor was subjected to repeated abuse during this period, leaving a severe impact on her mental health.The incident came to light when her relatives noticed signs of depression in the survivor and during counselling sessions, the survivor revealed the incidents.The family later lodged a formal complaint with police leading to Baby’s arrest.
