Hyderabad: The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls failed to commence in Serilingampally, Telangana’s largest assembly constituency with a sizeable migrant population, on the first day of the exercise as Booth Level Officers (BLOs) were yet to receive enumeration forms.Though the SIR drive was launched across the state on Thursday, the process remained stalled in several areas under the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation limits. In localities including Khajaguda, Nanakramguda, Hi-Tec City, Madhapur and Miyapur, a majority of BLOs had not received the forms even by 7 pm.With nearly 7.5 lakh voters, the constituency requires around 15 lakh enumeration forms, making printing and distribution a massive logistical exercise. Sources said BLOs were kept waiting at polling stations as the forms had not arrived.Officials indicated that even if the forms reached polling stations late on Thursday, door-to-door distribution was likely to begin only on Friday.“We expect to receive the bulk of the enumeration forms by tonight. Once they arrive, they will be distributed to the respective BLOs immediately. House-to-house distribution is likely to commence from Friday morning across the constituency,” a senior election official from Rangareddy district said.Authorities attributed the delay to the printing and transportation of a large volume of forms but maintained that the exercise would gather pace in the coming days.Residents, particularly those living in gated communities and high-rise apartments, also expressed concerns over the verification process. Many working professionals fear they may not be at home when BLOs visit.“A significant number of voters in Serilingampally reside in gated communities and apartments where both spouses are employed and away during the day. Proper communication and convenient scheduling are necessary to ensure residents are available when officials visit,” said Sai Ravi Shankar, president of the Federation of Gated Communities, Cyberabad.Officials said steps would be taken to streamline the exercise and ensure maximum voter coverage once distribution begins.
