Ahmedabad: Adani Airport Holdings Ltd on Thursday unveiled a Rs 20,000-crore plan to develop integrated airport city projects across six airports, including Ahmedabad, in the first phase of a larger commercial infrastructure programme.The company said it will develop around 22 million sq ft of hospitality, retail, office, entertainment, and convention space across airports in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Lucknow, Jaipur, and Guwahati.The projects will come up on more than 655 acres of land across the six airports. Nearly 440 acres are in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, accounting for around 70% of the first-phase investment.AAHL said the airport city developments will integrate hotels, offices, retail, food and entertainment facilities with airport terminals and public transport, including Metro connectivity where available.AAHL director Jeet Adani said airports were evolving into economic hubs that could drive investment, employment, and tourism beyond aviation operations.As part of the programme, the company has signed hotel management agreements with IHG Hotels & Resorts for five luxury and premium hotels, including the debut of the Kimpton brand in India. The airport city projects have received LEED Gold pre-certification from the US Green Building Council, AAHL said.AAHL, a subsidiary of Adani Enterprises, operates airports in Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Lucknow, Jaipur, Guwahati, Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram, and is developing the Navi Mumbai International Airport.
