New Delhi: Thieves decamped with valuables worth nearly Rs 1 crore from a wholesale mobile phone shop in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh Wednesday. Within 24 hours, police have arrested four men, including 24-year-old Ravi, a trusted employee of the store who allegedly emerged as the mastermind behind the heist.According to the police, information about a burglary from the shop in Beadonpura was received at 2.33 pm at the Karol Bagh police station. The owner, a resident of Hisar in Haryana, told police that he had opened his shop and found the premises ransacked. He had discovered that around Rs 90 lakh in cash, five mobile phones and the DVR of the CCTV system installed inside the shop had been stolen.“It was found that the offence had been committed with the assistance of a person having prior knowledge of the shop and its functioning,” said DCP (Central) Rohit Rajbir Singh.Police identified Ravi’s associates as Ansh (22), Manish (22) and Dipanshu (23), who were traced to outer Delhi’s Mangolpuri, where all three resided. Raids led to the apprehension of Ansh and three bags containing Rs 84 lakh in stolen cash were recovered from him. The other three were also nabbed and the stolen mobile phones were recovered.Ravi told cops that he was responsible for locking the shop every night and had regular access to its keys, which led him to hatch the conspiracy. Police said about two days before the incident, he had arranged for his associates to obtain the original key so that a duplicate key could be prepared.Ansh and Manish had allegedly entered the shop using the duplicate key while wearing masks and stole the valuables before fleeing. Ravi, on the other hand, had remained present at the shop on the following morning along with the other employees and projected himself as an innocent employee and witness after the burglary came to light, police said.
