Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has accused the BJP of abusing state machinery after Haryana Police registered a case alleging a forensic report that cleared Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann was fabricated. The investigation began in Gurugram, Haryana, after a digital forensic professional claimed he had been pressured to declare an objectionable viral video of Mann a deepfake. The clip, which led the Sikh supreme temporal seat to declare Mann a betrayer of the faith, allegedly shows a man resembling the CM committing sacrilege.Punjab AAP president Aman Arora dismissed the Gurugram inquiry as a politically motivated hit job orchestrated by Haryana’s BJP-led administration.“The entire Punjab knows the person in the video was not Mann,” Arora said, noting that external laboratories were used intentionally to ensure impartiality. “Had we wanted a favorable report, we could have used a lab in Punjab, which is under our govt.”Arora demanded that Haryana police instead investigate who financed, filmed, and distributed the original footage. Cybercrime units are auditing the independent laboratories’ documentation. MSID:: 131943716 413 |
