Kanpur: Etawah police early Tuesday morning conducted an encounter operation and arrested two suspects allegedly involved in a bag-snatching case that took place on Monday afternoon.According to police, the suspects, identified as Sunny alias Ballu, 21 and Vikas, 21, allegedly fired at police personnel and attempted to flee. In retaliatory firing, both were shot in the legs and in an injured condition admitted to a medical facility for treatment.As per the complaint lodged at the Kamalganj police station, the victim, Anirudh Pratap Singh, a cash collection agent for a private firm, said that on Monday afternoon he, along with a colleague, had gone to a cloth showroom on Kachahari Road in Chaugurji, where he collected Rs 33,600.Following this, he was preparing to exit the cash van to collect money from a nearby spectacles showroom.At that moment, two men on a motorcycle approached him. Before he could react, one of them struck him on the head with the butt of a pistol. Startled by the assault, he could not prevent them from snatching the bag from his shoulder before fleeing towards Balram Singh crossing.On receiving information, police officials reached the spot and began an investigation. CCTV cameras installed near the crime site were scanned to trace the accused.
