Thane: A Govt Railway Police (GRP) constable on duty at Dombivli railway station on Friday pulled a 70-year-old man to safety just seconds before he could slip under a moving local train, in an act of quick thinking that has since gone viral on social media.The incident took place on platform No. 1, where the elderly man attempted to board a departing local train. Losing his balance as the rake pulled away, he teetered dangerously close to the gap between the platform edge and the tracks.GRP constable Anil Shelke, who was on duty nearby, spotted the danger instantly and sprinted towards the man, pulling him away from the edge before he could fall under the train. CCTV footage of the rescue, which has been widely circulated online, shows the officer reacting within seconds, said a police officer.The elderly man, visibly shaken, expressed his gratitude to Shelke for saving his life. The video has drawn widespread praise from commuters and railway officials alike for the constable’s alertness and swift reflexes.The police once again issued a stern warning to commuters, urging them to avoid boarding or alighting from moving trains, calling such attempts life-threatening. A cop said incidents of this nature were entirely preventable and urged passengers to wait for trains to come to a complete halt before attempting to board.
