New Delhi: Seventeen years after a minor was allegedly kidnapped and raped by a tailor employed at her mother’s boutique, police have arrested the accused from Bijnor in UP, after he evaded arrest since 2009. The accused, Irshad Ahmed, 42, fled the country and moved to Kuwait in 2011, where he remarried. He was held on June 16 after police received a tip-off that he had returned for a family function.In April 2009, the girl’s mother approached Bindapur police, alleging that Ahmed had abducted her daughter with intent to marry and raped her before absconding.In another case, police arrested a 26-year-old man from Uttarakhand for allegedly raping a woman at gunpoint in 2023, filming the assault and blackmailing her.
