Patna: More than 70 lakh jobs have been created so far under PM Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PMVBRY) and 20 lakh of the youths have also completed first six months of their jobs since the scheme was launched last year, PM Narendra Modi said on Friday.Addressing 2 lakh youths and employers at 200 places across the country, including Patna, through videoconference while disbursing Rs2400 crore to the 15 lakh beneficiaries on the occasion, the PM said this is a scheme about empowering first-time employees and building a bridge between youth and industry. “In the last 12 years, the govt policies and decisions have created new job and employment sectors in the country,” he said.The PM said the country has 2 lakh registered startups and India is poised to lead the world in entrepreneurship, innovation and technology. “The 21st century belongs to skilled talent, innovations and technology,” he asserted.Referring to his participation in the G7 Summit, PM Modi said the world is discussing India’s talent, skill and potential of youth.Modi said through technology, the EPFO system has been modernised. “The pension system has also been made simpler and more accessible. Lakhs of new workers have been connected to health insurance and affordable healthcare facilities. The objective of the four new Labour Codes is to provide workers with greater security, greater transparency, and greater rights,” he said.Under the Employment-Linked Incentive (ELI) scheme, individuals joining a job for the first time receive Rs15,000 from the central govt directly to the bank account upon initial registration with the EPFO. Employers also receive a monthly bonus of up to Rs3,000 per employee. This amount is disbursed in two instalments within the first 12 months of service.In Patna, revenue and land reforms minister Dilip Kumar Jaiswal was the chief guest of the function held by EPFO at Urja Stadium. A total of 721 participants took part in the programme, including 512 beneficiaries, 37 employers, representatives from industry associations, public representatives, senior state govt officials, and officials and staff from the EPFO.Thirteen appointment letters were distributed by employers to newly recruited employees in Patna. Several employers praised the scheme, stating that it would boost formal employment and assist industries in securing qualified human resources. Beneficiaries also expressed their gratitude for the scheme, noting that it would provide them with social security benefits alongside employment and give a new direction to their futures.
