Officials said the Vice President will remain in Ladakh till June 21 and will participate in a series of programmes here, including International Yoga Day on Sunday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit West Bengal from June 20 and participate in the 12th International Yoga Day celebrations in Kolkata. Over 500 tourist and passenger boats, including those from the Sunderbans, are set to converge at Babughat on the Hooghly river for yoga demonstrations on the occasion of the International Day of Yoga.
This year marks the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) with the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Ageing‘, which emphasises the importance of yoga for all ages. BJP president Nitin Nabin will also embark on a three-day visit to Punjab beginning June 20. On June 21, Nabin will attend International Yoga Day celebrations in Phagwara.
Meanwhile, the IAF will host yoga sessions across the country to mark the International Day of Yoga. IAF will commemorate IDY by “organising yoga sessions across the length and breadth of the country, spanning diverse terrains and regions — from the high-altitude mountains of Leh in the north to beaches of Car Nicobar in the south and from the eastern frontiers of Tawang to the sacred city of Dwarka in the west” the defence ministry said in a statement. Car Nicobar is part of the Nicobar Islands in the Union Territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
