Rourkela: A 28-year-old man was stabbed to death in Deogarh district on Wednesday night following a dispute over water supply in his village. Police registered a murder case on Thursday and launched an investigation to identify and arrest the accused.The deceased was identified as Pappu Sahu of Gunduriposhi Colony Sahi under Deogarh police limits.According to the FIR lodged by his father Arta Sahu, Pappu was allegedly abused, pushed and beaten by eight villagers on June 16 after a village meeting, following an allegation that he had stopped water supply to their locality. The complainant said the family did not approach police then out of fear.On Wednesday night, Arta said he heard Pappu screaming before he came out of the house and collapsed. Family members found him lying in a pool of blood with a deep wound on his left thigh. He was rushed to Deogarh District Headquarters Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.Police said a deep injury was found on the left thigh and suspected he was stabbed. The body was sent for postmortem on Thursday and later handed over to the family.“After registering a murder case, we are investigating the case. Our effort is on to identify the killer and nab the accused,” said Sabyasachi Satapathy, inspector in charge of Deogarh police station.
