Gurgaon: The state vigilance and anti-corruption bureau (ACB) arrested a sub-inspector posted at BPTP police station for accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a complainant in exchange for helping him in a cybercrime case and releasing his seized motorcycle.The accused officer, SI Joginder, was caught red-handed by the ACB team inside police station while accepting the bribe amount.The case came to light after a youth from Sangam Vihar in Delhi approached the ACB, alleging that a cybercrime case was registered against him at BPTP police station. “The youth alleged that SI Joginder demanded Rs 40,000 from him to help settle the case and facilitate the release of his seized bike,” an officer said.The complainant told the ACB that he already paid Rs 20,000 under pressure, but the officer continued to demand the remaining amount. Following this, he approached the anti-corruption officials.“After verifying the complaint, the ACB team laid a trap and marked the currency notes before proceeding with the operation. The team caught Joginder while he was accepting the remaining Rs 20,000 from the complainant,” the officer added.A case was registered against him under the prevention of corruption act.
