Hyderabad: For helping prisoners gain job oriented skills, prison officials are in the process of setting up an Industrial Training Institute (ITI) inside Cherlapalli jail.On Monday, director general (Prisons) Sowmya Mishra visited the upcoming ITI premises and conducted a review. “The proposed ITI is aimed at imparting job-oriented technical and vocational training to prisoners, equipping them with industry-relevant skills that will facilitate their smooth transition into the mainstream workforce after their release,’’ prison officials said.The prison officials earlier visited National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) and National Skill Training Institute for Women (NSTI-W) to gain first-hand knowledge regarding the infrastructure and training methodologies.“During the visit, we interacted extensively with trainees and faculty members to understand the practical aspects of skill training and the impact of vocational education on employment opportunities,’’ she said.
