COIMBATORE : The Coimbatore district police on Friday arrested a guest worker on charged of illegally growing cannabis (ganja) plants near Thadagam in Coimbatore district.The arrested man has been identified as R Madhabenanda Jena, 46, from Odhisa. He was residing in a rented house in Thadagam and working as a daily wage earner.Acting on a tip-off regarding illegal cannabis cultivation, a special team from the Thadagam police station launched a search operation near Pannimadai on Friday. Police found two cannabis plants behind the house Jena was staying. Inquiries revealed that he was growing the plants.Police arrested Jena and confiscated the cannabis plants. A case has been registered against him. he was remanded in judicial custody.
