Vadodara: A 23-year-old man was burned alive in his car after it met with an accident on the Ahmedabad-Vadodara Expressway on Tuesday. The accident occurred near the interchange for the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, where a pick-up van was allegedly being driven on the wrong side of the road.Jagdish Vaghela was driving the car while six members of his family were accompanying him. When Vaghela reached near the interchange, the pick-up van — coming in reverse — rammed into his car. The collision damaged both vehicles severely and they soon caught fire.The driver of the pick-up van fled while Vaghela’s family members, including three children, managed to get out of the burning car. Vaghela tried to get out but his leg were trapped under the steering wheel. He shouted for help, but people were helpless as the fire soon engulfed the car completely.Fire brigade personnel rushed to the spot and doused the flames after which Vaghela was admitted to the hospital but he was declared dead. Three of the family suffered injuries on their legs and hands. From Bhavnagar, the Vaghela family had been staying in Mehsana for work. Bhadarva police registered a case against the pick-up van driver and began a search for him.
