Hyderabad: Three persons were killed in a road accident at Damaracherla in Nalgonda district on Tuesday afternoon when two bikes travelling in opposite directions collided. At around 1 pm, a bike ridden by D Venkateshwarulu, 23, who sold water bottles at Nadikudi railway station, collided with another bike travelling from Wadapally to Damaracherla near the Lorry Yard in Damaracherla. Venkateshwarulu and the two occupants of the other bike — B Dhananjaya Rao, 42, and U Narasimha Rao, 40, both labourers from Wadapally — sustained severe injuries. They were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Dhananjaya Rao was declared dead. The other two victims later succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment at separate hospitals in Miryalaguda and Nalgonda.“The victims were not wearing helmets. Prima facie, it appears that Venkateshwarulu was riding on the wrong side of the road at high speed, possibly while attempting to overtake another vehicle or avoid an obstruction, which led to the accident,” Wadapally sub-inspector Srikanth Reddy said.A case has been registered under Section 106(1) (causing death by a rash or negligent act) of the BNS at Wadapally police station.
