Mangaluru: The court of the senior civil judge and JMFC, Sullia, has sentenced an accused in connection with a theft case, and a case involving his escape from police custody.The accused, AM Azeez, a resident of Ajjavara in Sullia, was facing trial in a case registered at Sullia police station under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC, and a case registered under Section 224 of the IPC.After hearing the case, judge Damayanthi found the accused guilty of the charges.In the case registered under Section 224 IPC, escape from lawful custody, the court sentenced the accused to one year of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000. In default of payment of the fine, he will have to undergo an additional 45 days of simple imprisonment.In the case registered under Section 457 IPC (lurking house trespass or housebreaking by night), the accused was sentenced to three years of simple imprisonment and fined Rs 5,000. In default of payment of the fine, he will have to undergo an additional 45 days of simple imprisonment.Under Section 380 IPC (theft in a dwelling house), the court sentenced him to three years of simple imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000.
