Dumka: Body of a 26-year-old man was found hanging from a tree near a govt health centre in Godda district on Friday. The deceased was identified as Sheikha Zulfikar, a resident of Baredih village under Mahagama police station (PS) limits.Panic gripped the locality after locals spotted Zulfikar’s body hanging from a tree near Sarwa sub-health centre. Police personnel from Mahagama PS reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem examination.According to local sources, Zulfikar left his home on Thursday evening carrying a bag to travel to another state for work. His family believed he had departed for his destination until his body was found hanging a day later.The deceased’s bag was recovered from a pond, while some clothes were also found at the spot, fuelling speculation over the circumstances. “Investigation is proceeding considering both angles — suicide and murder,” Manoj Pal, the OC of Mahgama PS, said, adding that the victim or his family did not have enmity with anyone.Angered residents and family members blocked the Godda-Mahagama section of NH-133 for two hours. The blockade was lifted after police intervention and assurance of a fair and impartial investigation.The deceased’s mother, Sanni Khatun, said her son left after a minor family dispute and alleged he was murdered. She said Zulfikar married a woman from Sukhari village last year and had no children.
