GURGAON: MCG office was evacuated on Thursday morning after authorities received an email threatening a bomb blast at the civic body’s headquarters, prompting an immediate security response and the issuance of a safety advisory to employees.According to officials, the threatening email was sent to senior district and administrative authorities, including officials of the Gurgaon administration. The message claimed that an improvised explosive device (IED) would be detonated at the Gurgaon Mayor’s office and Municipal Corporation office. The email also contained references to railway locations and religious sites in Haryana, Delhi and Punjab.The threat email, sent from an email address purportedly linked to a pro-Khalistan individual, also referred to potential attacks on railway routes and mentioned several prominent Hindu temples and religious sites in Haryana and Delhi. Security agencies are examining the contents of the email as part of their investigation to determine the credibility of the threat and identify its source.Following receipt of the threat, police and security agencies were alerted and a comprehensive search operation was launched at the MCG premises. As a precautionary measure, the building was evacuated and employees were asked to move to designated safe areas while security personnel conducted checks.The MCG administration subsequently issued an advisory directing all officers and staff to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to security protocols. Employees were instructed to immediately report any suspicious person, object, bag, package or vehicle to senior officials and security personnel. The advisory also warned staff not to touch or move any unattended items and to comply fully with directions issued by police and security agencies.The corporation further urged employees not to circulate unverified information or rumours on social media and to follow established evacuation procedures in the event of an emergency. Verification of visitors entering the premises was also ordered to be intensified.No suspicious object had been reported from the premises at the time of filing this report. Authorities said security measures across key government installations in the city had been heightened as a precaution.
