TNNLucknow: Director general of police (DGP) Rajeev Krishna on Tuesday directed police and administrative officers across Uttar Pradesh to adopt a zero-tolerance approach towards any irregularity in the upcoming police constable recruitment examination, stressing that the success of the massive exercise would depend on vigilance and discipline at every level.Chairing a high-level review meeting via video conference, along with chief secretary SP Goyal, the DGP instructed officials to ensure strict compliance with all guidelines issued by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board for the written examination scheduled from June 8 to June 10.DGP directed district police chiefs to strengthen security arrangements at examination centres, strong rooms and transit routes for confidential examination material. He also ordered adequate deployment of police and traffic personnel at railway stations, bus stands, major intersections and examination venues to facilitate smooth movement and security of candidates.Officials were instructed to maintain constant surveillance through CCTV monitoring, conduct thorough frisking of candidates and staff, and take immediate action against any suspicious activity or attempts at malpractice.Chief secretary SP Goyal also directed officers to ensure complete transparency, confidentiality and integrity of the recruitment process, warning that any lapse in security or supervision would invite strict action.Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board Chairman SB Shiradkar informed officials that the written examination for direct recruitment to 32,679 Civil Police Constable and equivalent posts will be held at 1,183 centres spread across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.To accommodate the large number of candidates, the examination will be conducted in two shifts each day. The first shift will be held from 10 am to 12 noon, while the second shift will take place from 3 pm to 5 pm.Shiradkar said the recruitment drive has generated an overwhelming response from aspirants, with a total of 28,86,797 applications received for the 32,679 vacancies.
