JANDIALA GURU: The suspects involved in the broad-daylight murder of a government school teacher here remain at large for the second consecutive day. Nearly 24 hours have passed since the incident, but no arrests have been made so far. According to police sources, CCTV footage has captured five suspects, and operations to identify and apprehend them have been intensified.The family of Jagdeep Singh—who worked as an art and craft teacher at Gehri Mandi—told the media that the family was completely unaware of any motive behind the attack and rushed straight to the scene upon hearing the news. She emphasized that her brother had no past rivalry or enmity with anyone.His grieving relatives expressed deep frustration, stating that governments only offer empty assurances while no concrete action follows. They added that the security situation in Punjab has become extremely dangerous. Jagdeep is survived by his wife, a daughter, and his elderly mother. The family suspect Jagdeep could be victims of roadside robbers.The tragic incident occurred on Monday in the Jandiala Guru area. Jagdeep Singh was returning home on his scooter after dropping off his 11th-grade daughter at her tuition classes when a group of assailants surrounded him.Police sources stated that the attackers repeatedly assaulted Jagdeep with sharp-edged weapons. The fatal blow was inflicted on his neck, causing severe hemorrhaging that killed him on the spot. The attack was so brutal that his body was later found lying face down on the road, with signs of horrific injuries visible across the scene.Baljit Singh, the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) for Jandiala Guru, said that law enforcement is actively investigating the case and expressed confidence that the accused will be nabbed soon. He added that the postmortem examination of the body was conducted on Tuesday.While police sources have not ruled out the possibility that Jagdeep was targeted by roadside robbers and killed for resisting a robbery attempt, they have yet to officially confirm this theory. The victim’s family continues to demand strict and immediate action against those responsible.
