Bengaluru: Ramaiah Group is launching a new greenfield deemed-to-be university, offering industry-embedded engineering curriculum and translational research.Called Ramaiah Institute of Science and Management (RISM), the campus will offer engineering in computer science and artificial intelligence, aerospace engineering and electrical sciences to begin with. The transit campus will begin operations in Aug and the main campus is expected to be fully operational in Sept 2028 in the Information Technology Investment Region near Devanahalli.The varsity will have University at Albany, State University of New York, as the knowledge partner, helping the institution create the curriculum.MR Jayaram, chairman of Gokula Education Foundation that runs Ramaiah institutions, said the varsity will prepare students for global knowledge environments rather than solely relying on traditional teaching models. “We are not building a centre for teaching, but a centre for learning,” he said.Admissions will be merit-based and depend on the ranks of Joint Entrance Examinations (JEE) and Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka (ComedK). Applications will open after official launch of the university on June 4.The fee ranges from Rs 10-12 lakh per annum. Merit-based scholarships will be given to students.
